When Donkeys Fly

Went out last night with the aforementioned bartender from the Hole...had a nice time actually...no petting, just genuine conversation and light flirting. How original? Don't think that it is going to turn into anything more...I'm really trying to ween back on dating in the hospitality industry...I am drawn to hard working, friendly, conversationalist who also almost always are waiters or bartenders - and it never works out...I should learn, but I get caught up and then its 3 weeks later and I'm saying I'll never do it again. Hmph. I am expecting a visitor this weekend...Steven is coming...since he lived here for a while, he is going to give me the full tour. I think Marcus is also coming in for a Sunday night stay...that will be nice...he's gonna wanna shake his booty some, so I'm sure we'll be out. This is weekend #2...I think I'm hanging in there...2 more and I'm back in the ATL for a visit! I hear the weather is great, which makes me very jealous...Fall is my favorite time of year...I can actually feel the cool crisp mornings right now...ahhhh...Helen?

My First Full Weekend

Its Monday and I have survived my first full weekend in San Diego...I guess 'survived' is kind of pushing it, but it is difficult being in a new city and not knowing anybody...so here's a list of what I did this past weekend...
  • Went running in Mission Beach and Pacific Beach and watched the sunset - can I just say - ridiculous...over and over and over....
  • Almost killed myself trying to traverse the cliffs to Black's Beach...glad I did...
  • Went swimming in the Pacific Ocean, damn the water is cold
  • Went out to Bourbon Street and had a couple beers...met a few people and actually had some good conversations
  • Starting to figure out where the streets are located and my way around town
  • Felt completely out of place at Hamburger Mary's (now called Mo's) and left dejected...thanks to Twon for bringing me out of the dumps!
  • Went to The Hole and had a 180 degree turn around...right when I walked in I went to buy a beer and was greeted by the bartender offering me shots of Jaegermeister...now thats the way it should be!
  • Was given foresaid bartenders number and will hang out this week

I'd have to say, we sometimes take close friendships for granted...when they are not there we realize how much our friends mean to us.

California...

Am I soon going to be cruising down the 101? Probably not because A) I live in San Diego, the 101 is in LA and B) Nobody cruises down the 101...it's pretty much always a parking lot. I got into San Diego last night and finally was able to settle in around 9PM...midnight my time. Got a cool car... a 2006 Ford Mustang hard-top - red ... Drove around my new neighborhood...Little Italy...very cool. Was amazed at my 8 minute commute this morning...that was a first for me...mine usually runs ~25 mins...I'm going to head out for a run along the Pacific tonight after work. I'm looking forward to my 8 weeks out here...I'm a bit nervous over the fact that I don't know anybody in San Diego or even know where the grocery store is...but of course, leave it to Starbucks to have a store right on my corner. Now if I could only figure out how to get out of my apartment building without going through the parking garage...its weird not to have a TV at my access...how the hell am I suppose to watch Oprah! Oh well...this will be a great experience for me and I hope my friends come to visit - hint hint... one other thing ... crazy but I have had to wear my glasses for the first time consistently in 3 years. Is my vision getting worse or is it stress related? Or did I finally step into the deep end and I will now have to wear glasses/contacts for the rest of my life? Getting older is so much fun.
