NY State of Mind

I'm off to NY tomorrow to spend a few days with the family. My Dad turned 60 last week and we are all getting together to help him celebrate. Upstate NY is actually a really great place to visit. On Friday we are heading to Saratoga for a day at the races. Horse racing is huge in NY and I'm actually pretty good at picking the winners...this is the first time that I will be going being over 21, so I can only imagine my skills will be enhanced by a couple beers...we are then staying in Saratoga for dinner and going to a Crosby, Stills and Nash concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. It will be a long day...but also a lot of fun. On Saturday, we are planning a round of Golf in the morning and then I'm heading on a Dinner cruise on the Hudson to celebrate a friend from High School's wedding. Sunday we will be heading up to my Uncle's Lake House and heading out on the boat for some water skiing. I actually thought this weekend was going to be somewhat relaxing...as I write this, I'm realizing that its going to be fun, but quite hectic!

Audition Idea

Twon and I have to make a 3 minute tape for The Amazing Race...aside from the current suggestions of showing lots of skin, dancing in a choreographed routine to Beyonce's "Naughty Girl," and Crisco Twister we are at a loss...if anybody has any ideas, let me know! This is the picture I sent in...how could they not want us! :)

Monday, Monday

What a weekend...I fulfilled my volunteer duties at the IGLA swim meet @ GaTech...watched the Pink Flamingo (I'm thinking that Long Beach is the winner, although NYC was a close second)...survived the heat...partied like a rock star @ Jungle...made it home safe Saturday night...watched a Good Times Marathon on TV Land from 4AM to 6AM...finally slept a few hours...went to brunch @ The Flying Biscuit...Duarte from Providence called (Do What? Duarte)...fixed my broken toilet, that was fun...hung out at JJ's pool for a bit...made a Digornio pizza, it wasn't delivery, but, it was good none-the-less...went to bed last night @ 9PM...over 10 hours sleep...I needed it and I'm still tired...weekends are for resting, right?

Team 5'9''

Is there something wrong when all of one's group of friends begin to look alike? I've heard of pets and their owners beginning to look alike, but a group of friends? We always laugh, because it becomes quite obvious sometimes...for example, as I look at this picture...

The Amazing Race?

My favorite show on TV is The Amazing Race. I think the Producers do a great job editing this show and making it suspenseful in addition to spending time with the teams so we can get to know them...also, the teams get to travel around the World - a once in a life time experience. While in P-Town we heard that they were going to hold try-outs for The Amazing Race...of course I'm going. So me and one of my best friends Twon decided to try out. The audition was brief and I hoped that it was enough for the Producers to get a good glimpse of our interaction and the fact that we know each other extremely well...practically like brothers. A couple weeks pass and we both receive a message from Producer Brian...a call back! Amazing...so we are both going to give him a call today. Not sure what this means, probably just one step of many during the selection process, but I'm completely stoked! Now I'm talking like a stoner. Nice. Can you image it? Donks and Twon tearing it up around the World. Now that would be truly amazing.

I just don't get it

What's with all these games that people play? No not Monopoly or Chess or even Spin the Bottle, I'm talking about the "rules" or should I say, games of dating. Don't call too soon...be careful what you leave in your message, play hard to get...what about just being upfront and honest...how can that scare people away? I'm still learning all of these rules and God knows that I’m not the best communicator or dater in the world...in fact I'm much more content to just be hanging by myself...going for a run or watching some TV. But every once in a while you meet somebody and decide that it would be nice to have some companionship and do things together. But then it gets difficult and I retreat. Back to the single life...is it me? Am I destined to be single forever? Am I looking in all the wrong places? Do my friends create a comfort zone for me such that when dating gets bumpy, I retreat to the "friend zone" where with a Margarita or Bourbon and Coke all is well? I always say that "I'll figure it out'...but will I ever?

My First Post

Welcome to my Blog...this is my first post...my Administrative Assistant just leaned into my office and told me that there is Cheesecake in the breakroom...I've fought the urge and am now eating a piece of celery. Celery is funny...you actually use more calories to eat a piece of celery than is contained in celery. Hum. I had a great weekend, although it definitely is getting into the dog days of Summer in the ATL. Ran into an interest on Saturday...saw him again on Sunday...there is some potential there. Sunday was a lot of fun @ Shout. Ran into some old friends and made some new ones. Atlanta is a great city to live in...big, but still small.

I'm still reeling from my trip to the Cape last week. It was amazing fun...I have the best friends in the entire world and I have realized how important they are to me and to my sanity. Although strangely enough, they all would probably tell you that I'm somewhat insane. Hum.
